New Windsor, NY -- (10/15/18) Women for Schmitt, a coalition of women in the community supporting Colin J. Schmitt for the 99th NYS Assembly District, held a rally in support of his campaign this evening in Washingtonville at a woman owned business, The Art Cottage.
A packed house of women and other guests attended the event to show their unwavering support for Colin and stand shoulder to shoulder with a leader they see as the best advocate for women and all residents of the 99th Assembly District.
The women represented a diverse cross section of the region ranging in age, personal and professional background. The many attendees include local business owners, students, veterans, homemakers, retired professionals, elected leaders and more. Others not able to personally attend are dedicated members of the coalition. These women not only stood with Colin today, but pledged to do all in their power to ensure he is elected on November 6th.
First Lady of Orange County Rachel Neuhaus stated, "I am proud to serve as a leading organizer and supporter of the Women for Schmitt coalition. Colin Schmitt is an inspiring leader who puts the needs of our community first and foremost. As a woman, a wife and a mother, there is no one I would want representing my family and our district in Albany other than Colin Schmitt. He will be the strongest voice for women in the State Assembly. He will be a leader we will be proud to have working for us. I hope all women and all residents of the 99th Assembly District will join with me in voting for Colin Schmitt."
Susan Giordano, owner of The Art Cottage stated, "It is an honor to host the Women for Schmitt coalition at my store. Colin Schmitt stood with me as we cut the ribbon to open this store so it is only fitting that we show our support for Colin with this event. Colin is a leading advocate for women in our community, especially women owned businesses. I know from experience the type of leader Colin is, and I know he will be the strongest ally for all of us when he is elected to the State Assembly."
Nikki Pagano-Schmitt stated, “My husband has a passion to serve our community. I know Colin better than anyone, and get to see first hand his dedication to our community. His energy is contagious and is strengthened the more he is able to achieve good results for others. We need a leader who will empower all women to succeed. A leader who will help guarantee the environment for equal treatment and opportunity and be the loudest voice for advocacy and action when that is what is needed. Colin Schmitt is that voice, I love him and I am proud of him.”
Jill DiSalvo stated, “I am so proud of my son, and I am blessed to be able to share him with our entire community. For as long as I can remember Colin has been dedicated to helping others. He has always looked to provide a helping hand whether it be in service organizations, the military or in his passion to be our next Assemblyman. As a son, brother and husband I have seen Colin in every role of his life. He has always made me proud and I know the same will occur as our State Assemblyman. Women in our district will never find a more dedicated individual, I am lucky enough to call him my son.”
County Republican Chairwoman Courtney Greene stated, "As a woman, I am proud to support Colin Schmitt to be our next Assembly member. Colin is a dedicated leader for our community who has a proven track record of standing up for all, especially women. In the Assembly Colin will ensure that all women in our community and state have equal opportunity to succeed and achieve. He will be a leader on the issues that matter most for our communities and families."
Colin Schmitt stated, “I am honored by the outpouring of support I have received in this campaign, in particular from the Women for Schmitt coalition. I pledge to serve as the strongest advocate for the women of New York and ensure economic empowerment, personal opportunity and equal treatment and respect is afforded to all. I grew up seeing my mom work hard to raise a family, run a home and work. Herself a product of a single mother, my loving grandmother, who raised three kids on her own. I will not rest in Albany until all women and all my neighbors have the same ability to succeed, to raise a family and to enjoy life to the fullest in this state. The list is long of issues that can be solved to make our state stronger, but there is nothing I am not willing to attempt to achieve.”
Colin Schmitt is committed to public service. Colin is a member of the U.S. Army National Guard and chief-of-staff for New Windsor’s town government. Previously, Colin served as Director of Operations for the NYS Senate Committee on Veterans, Homeland Security and Military Affairs. Colin and his wife, Nikki, live in the Town of New Windsor.
